Voltage plateau for LFP
Company
EAS Batteries is a German manufacturer specializing in large-format cylindrical lithium-ion cells, with applications in aerospace, marine, and industrial sectors.
Challenge
Unlike mass-market applications, EAS serves sectors with exceptionally high quality requirements. Each cell must deliver flawless performance under extreme conditions. Conventional aging processes, however, required 7–15 days of testing and still offered limited insight into early degradation. The challenge was even greater for LFP chemistries, where the long and flat voltage plateau makes it extremely difficult for traditional methods to detect self-discharge signals in a reasonable time. For EAS, the key question was how to achieve faster diagnostics without compromising the highest quality standards.
Limatica Approach
LIMATICA introduced its noise-based diagnostic method using the Labtester, tailored for EAS’s large cylindrical LFP cells. Instead of waiting for long-term self-discharge measurements, our technology analyzes voltage noise, which is independent of the voltage plateau and reveals intrinsic activity inside the cell. This enabled EAS to obtain reliable quality feedback in just 30 minutes, without sacrificing precision or safety. By overcoming the voltage plateau challenge, LIMATICA provided a diagnostic approach ideally suited for high-demanding applications where both speed and uncompromising quality are essential.
